About Me
I’m Alistair Willoughby. I serve as your Councillor for Baldock West on North Herts District Council and for Baldock and Letchworth East on Hertfordshire County Council.
I’ve lived in Baldock all my life. The work I do is shaped by conversations with neighbours, not decisions made behind closed doors. That means noticing what’s been overlooked, standing up for what’s fair, and working with others to move good ideas forward, no matter where they come from.
My focus is on the everyday building blocks of a stronger community — housing, infrastructure, public health, safer streets — and making sure the people most affected by decisions are at the centre of how they’re made.
Local government should serve people, not paperwork. If you live in Baldock or Letchworth East, I’d love to hear what’s on your mind — so we can fix what’s broken, support what’s working and build something better, together.

My Story
Baldock is where I’m from. Everything I care about started here.
Fairness. Care. Accountability.

I was raised by parents who taught me to show up for others. I learned from community groups that never waited for permission to do what needed to be done. Fundraisers. Youth clubs. Local spaces kept open because people pulled together. That’s where my politics began.

I ran for Council because decisions were being made without the people they affected. Services stretched. Promises delayed. Trust worn thin. I wanted to help change that — not by talking over people, but by working with them.

Because change does not start in council offices. It starts in our communities.

I am Labour and Co-operative because I believe politics should be built with people and shaped by care. That means housing that is safe and secure. Services that work. Streets that feel safe. Decisions made in public, not behind closed doors. Power shared. Trust earned.

Politics should never be about ruling over others. It should be about service. Rooted in care. Practised with humility. Focused on what matters.
This is not about roles. Not about recognition. It is about public service that reflects the people it is meant to serve — not just today, but for the long term, across the whole county.

That is the work I am doing now. And the work I want to keep doing.
With others. For all of us.
